Most of us will find ourselves feeling ‘stuck’ or distressed at some point in our lives.
You may be experiencing depression or anxiety or be full of self-doubt and low in confidence; you may have personal or professional relationship difficulties; you may feel isolated and alone; you may be enduring a bereavement or other significant loss; there may be trauma or events you've experienced that play on your mind or get in the way of living life to the full; you may have a more general sense of dissatisfaction or unease and not know exactly what's wrong; you may simply want to explore more fully who you are and who you want to be. The issues that bring us to therapy, are as varied and unique as we are.
I am a warm and down-to-earth psychotherapist working in Dalston, E8 and Beckenham, BR3 and I can help you by providing a safe and confidential therapy relationship in which you can share anything you want to with me, at your own pace and without being judged. I will treat you and everything you tell me with respect and understanding and I will be open in my responses to you. I will work with you to help you to see the wood for the trees, to explore and to understand your difficulties, whatever they might be.
We can review our work regularly to ensure that you feel you are getting what you need and we can meet for as many sessions as you wish.
The prospect of sharing our thoughts, feelings and experiences can be daunting, especially if they feel confusing or painful, unresolvable or unimportant. Making initial contact with a therapist can take a great deal of courage. I do understand that and I'm here when you're ready.
Being heard, understood and genuinely accepted can really help us. The benefits that Counselling brings can be felt in all aspects of our lives.

I am a qualified, accredited and experienced Person Centred Psychotherapist, working in private practice on a one to one basis. I aim to provide a warm, understanding and accepting therapy relationship in which we can safely explore together whatever you choose to bring.
My initial academic and vocational training was in the performance arts. I bring my experience and understanding of the particular difficulties actors, musicians and dancers can face, to my work with them.
I re-trained as a Counsellor and then as a Psychotherapist at the Metanoia Institute.
I am currently in the final stages of an MSc in Person-Centred Psychotherapy awarded by Middlesex University, researching the experience of attending boarding school and the particular reverberations boarders might feel in adult life.
I hold a current DBS certificate and my work is fully insured and underpinned by regular clinical supervision. I invest in continuing personal and professional development in order to be able to offer an informed, contemporary and dynamic practice.
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION & MEMBERSHIPS
I am an Accredited Member of the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP) and a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work within the ethical frameworks of each.
Central to my work is the understanding that each of us is unique, as is our view of ourselves and of our world and I strive to approach every client without any preconceptions, regardless of age, gender, sexual identity, belief system, level of ability, ethnicity or social and cultural background.
I have worked with clients whose concerns have included:
A general sense that things are not right with you
Anxiety and panic
Bereavement, grief and loss
Depression and persistent low mood
Emotional impact of physical conditions
Impact of attending boarding school
Numbness of feeling
Past traumatic experiences
Post natal depression
Performance arts-related difficulties such as self-promotion, confidence, stage fright, effects of injury
WHERE I WORK
I work in two places (please see maps for details):

and am easily reached from Canonbury, the City, De Beauvoir Town, Hackney, Haggerston, Highbury and Islington, Hoxton, Homerton, London Fields, Stamford Hill and Stratford.
Beckenham, Kent BR3 from a room at Manor Road GP surgery (where I work independently of the medical staff) on Thursdays
and am easily reached from Beckenham, Bromley, Croydon, Crystal Palace , Elmers End, Hayes, Orpington, Penge, Shirley, Shortlands and West Wickham.
Research shows that the relationship between therapist and client is what makes the positive difference so it's important that you find the right counsellor for you. I offer a reduced rate for our initial session so that we can meet, you can get a feel for how I work and we can see if we're a good fit.
£50 per initial session
£60 per session thereafter
The fee is due by BACS at least 24 hrs prior to a session in order to secure it.
Sessions last for fifty minutes and are held at the same time each week. Fees are due on a weekly basis unless you give me notice of cancellation in advance as per our agreement. If you can't make a planned session I will try to offer you an alternative time in the same week in order to maintain contact, either face to face or online.
